Extra Activities in 2000
Jan. 1 - Y2K Assistance: Members were stationed at Maine East & Maine South High Schools and Police Headquarters through the early morning hours to assist as needed. Other members were "on call" from their homes.
Feb. 19 & 26 - Kid's ID Days: Patrol members assisted with the registration process at the Park Ridge Community Center - 1515 W. Touhy (at Western Ave.).
April 15 - Government Open House: The Patrol had an information display at City Hall. The Patrol also provided guards at several uptown street crossings.
April 27 - We remember: - John Douglas Reid (1943-2000), member.
May 20 - Public Works Opens House: The Patrol had an information display and assisted with security.
May 27 - Adopt-A-Highway: Members cleaned the South side of Oakton Street from Oriole Ave. to Prospect Ave.
May 31 - Memorial Day: The Patrol participated in the Memorial Day Parade.
June 24 - We remember: Wilbert Paul Mannhardt (1916-2000), former member and advocate.
July 13 - Fire Call: 14 members assisted with traffic control at the apartment building fire at 239 N. Northwest Highway.
July 29 - Adopt-A-Highway: Members again cleaned the South side of Oakton Street from Oriole Ave. to Prospect Ave.
August 11 - Retirement : Members wish good luck to Police Chief Robert Colangelo retiring after 28 years of service.
Sept. 9 - Oktoberfest: The Patrol had an informational display from 4 pm until closing.
Sept. 30 - Charity Classic 5K Race: The Patrol provided guards at street crossings along the course of the race.
Oct. 7 - Fire Department Open House: North Fire Station at Oakton and Greenwood. Noon until 4 pm. The Patrol had an informational display.
Oct. 21 - Adopt-A-Highway: Members cleaned the South side of Oakton Street from Oriole Ave. to Prospect Ave.
